Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be able to call myself an Orofacial Myologist?

Yes this course is a 28hr foundation course that allows a person to call themselves an Orofacial myologist however we recommend speech pathologists use the description special interest or trained in OM as it’s a modality, not a profession, and is recognised as an area under our scope of practice. For non speech pathologists, while we only accept allied health professionals, dental and medical professionals, it is up to the professional to determine their own profession’s scope of practice and practising requirements. But to summarise, it is no different to any other 28hr intro OM course in this regards and our participants can join the national body on completion of our course.

I see adults on my caseload - does your course only apply to infants and children?

No, our course covers the assessment and treatment of oral dysfunction across the lifespan. We include, adult, paediatric and infant live cases.

How can you fit a 28 hour course in just 3 days?

We appreciate that many travel and are leaving business and families so have decided to run our 28 hr course over 3 days instead of 4. We start at 8am and finish at 6pm each day and have a working style lunch.

What makes your course different?

We are speech pathologists trained in lactation so can address the application to a speech and feeding caseload Our course also includes the assessment and treatment of live cases. We have kept our course live rather than online which makes for a practical and interactive experience.

Will I be eligible to join a professional association after completing the course?
